Jewel's Friends
Hi. I'm Jewel. I was adopted by PFS presi-
dent Barb from the Peoria Animal Control in '99. She had stopped by to check out a dog for a potential member when a volunteer begged her to take a look at me. I had been there ten days and even though the staff loved my  affectionate personality, no one wanted to adopt me.
Maybe it was because I walked with a limp because of a fractured shoul-
dar, or my cauliflower ear, or a tail that is broken half way up and also has the tip missing! Barb adopted me for herself and because she always referred to exceptionally nice animals in shelters as "jewels", she named me Jewel. My vet thinks that my injuries happened several years ago when I was just a kitten. She thinks that I crawled up under a car for warmth and the fan belt got me when someone started it. OUCH! Well, I'm okay now and it's too late to get fixed, but Barb loves me just the way I am. I have lots of friends like me that are in shelters hoping some-
one will love them just the way they are. I hope you enjoy meeting them!
